The Finance Department is responsible for the receipt, safeguarding, investment, and distribution of Municipal funds which includes tax collection, accounts payable, and payroll.


Tax Collection

Taxes are payable quarterly on the first day of February, May, August and November after which dates they are delinquent and subject to interest. There is a 10-calendar day grace period. Any questions concerning your assessment should be directed to the Tax Assessor, John Gillooly (732) 741-4200, x110. The Collector is responsible for the billing and collection of taxes only. The entire tax bill with a self-addressed stamped envelope must accompany remittances requiring receipt. Otherwise, detach the appropriate stub and mail with your check; the cancelled check will be your receipt. Any inquires about Sewer billing should be made to The Two River Water Reclamation Authority at (732) 229-8578.


New Jersey homeowners soon will receive their 2016 Homestead Benefit applications. The deadline for filing a Homestead application is Friday, November 30, 2018.


With few exceptions, homeowners must file applications online or by phone. Homeowners should read the instructions in the application carefully and file if they meet the eligibility requirements. Homeowners who have already sold the home that was their principal residence on October 1, 2016, or who plan to sell should visit the Division’s website ( for additional guidance.


The online application ( and the automated telephone filing system (1-877-658-2972) will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the filing period. more
