HOMESTEAD BENEFITS

The deadlines for residents to file their 2010 Homestead Benefit and 2010 Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) applications have been extended for one week from October 31, 2011, to November 7, 2011.

The Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) and Homestead Benefit Programs are two distinct property tax relief programs with different eligibility requirements and separate applications. The Division of Taxation mailed 2010 Property Tax Reimbursement (PTR) applications in February, and most eligible residents have already filed. Those who are eligible but have not yet filed can complete and mail in their PTR applications now. Applications for the 2010 Homestead Benefit were sent out in June and homeowners can file their applications either online or by phone.
